Our distinction

The three things that define us.

Psychographic profiling is among the most valued tools in contemporary marketing and social research. Leading research agencies worldwide offer it, and they build it on the same method: k-means cluster analysis, in which segments are re-computed with every new study. Academic literature systematically documents the limitations of this approach: results are not comparable across waves, the same respondent can receive a different profile in different studies, and structure is imposed geometrically rather than tested against the data.

No leading agency has published its psychographic methodology in a peer-reviewed international academic journal.

Progress Consult works differently and can prove it.
01

A frozen deterministic classifier

Our methodology does not re-compute segments with each study. The classifier is calibrated once on a large reference base and then remains fixed. Each new respondent is assigned a profile based on pre-defined reference centroids (a nearest-centroid procedure), without recalibration. The result is consistent: the same respondent receives the same profile in every study, every market and every subsequent wave. Comparison across waves, markets and years is methodologically clean.

02

International academic validation

Our methodology is undergoing international peer review in specialised academic journals. No leading agency has done this for its own psychographic methodology. The full mathematical specification is publicly available, so an independent researcher can verify and reproduce the results.

03

Systematic applicability

The frozen classifier is not an isolated solution. We apply it consistently across two distinct domains: consumer behaviour (PsychoProfiling™) and Ideological-value orientation of voters (IDEO5). Together, the two methodologies have been validated on over 15,000 respondents across more than 13 nationally representative surveys in Bulgaria, Greece and North Macedonia between 2015 and 2026. This scale of validation is rare among proprietary instruments on the international market.
